Waffle Recipe and Preparation:
Ingredients:
- - 4 cups all-purpose flour
- - 4 tablespoons granulated sugar
- - 2 tablespoons baking powder
- - 1 teaspoon salt
- - 4 large eggs
- - 3 1/2 cups milk
- - 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
- - 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Instructions:
1. Begin by preheating your waffle maker according to its instructions.
2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined.
3. In a separate bowl, beat the eggs. Then, add the milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Whisk until the mixture is smooth and well incorporated.
4. Gradually pour the wet ingredients into the bowl with the dry ingredients. Stir gently until just combined. Be careful not to overmix, as this can result in dense waffles.
5. Once the batter is ready, ladle it onto the preheated waffle maker, using the amount recommended by the manufacturer. Close the lid and cook until the waffles are golden brown and crispy.
6. As each batch of waffles finishes cooking, transfer them to cooling racks to prevent them from becoming soggy. This will help to preserve their texture and prevent them from sticking together.
7. Once the waffles have cooled, place them onto a half sheet pan lined with wax paper, layering them gently. This will make it easier to freeze and store them.
8. Repeat the process until all the batter has been used, making sure to allow the waffle maker to preheat between each batch.
9. Once all the waffles are cooked and cooled, divide them into portions suitable for your family's needs. In this case, 12 waffles per batch were chosen, with five batches prepared for freezing.
10. Store the batches of waffles in freezer-safe bags or airtight containers, making sure to label them with the date for reference.
11. To reheat the frozen waffles, simply place them in a toaster or toaster oven until they are warmed through and crispy.

I do this a lot and it’s a wonderful breakfast for the kids to help themselves to. Usually I make flavored waffles like banana, zucchini or pumpkin, depending on what I have that needs to be used up. The little bit of upfront effort is totally worth it to me.
