Now, let's dive into the rebel canning method and create your own quick and easy tomato sauce. Here's what you'll need:

  • - Fresh tomatoes
  • - Garlic cloves
  • - Dried basil
  • - Salt

Follow these simple steps to make your rebel-style tomato sauce:

1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). This high temperature will help intensify the flavors of the tomatoes.
2. Prepare the Tomatoes: Wash and dry your fresh tomatoes. Cut them into halves or quarters, depending on their size. Remove any stems or blemishes.
3. Roast the Tomatoes: Place the tomato pieces on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Drizzle them with olive oil and sprinkle with minced garlic and dried basil. Give them a gentle toss to ensure they are evenly coated.
4. Into the Oven: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and let the tomatoes roast for about 40 minutes. Keep an eye on them to prevent burning. You want the tomatoes to be soft and slightly caramelized.
5. Blend and Season: Once the tomatoes are roasted to perfection, remove them from the oven and let them cool slightly. Transfer them to a blender or food processor and blend until smooth. Add a pinch of salt or adjust the seasoning to taste.
