Say goodbye to store-bought mustard and elevate your condiment game with this exceptional homemade mustard recipe.

Crafted with a carefully formulated blend of ingredients, this mustard offers a delightful balance of tanginess, warmth, and sweetness that will surpass your expectations. Prepared with a combination of white vinegar, apple cider vinegar, mustard powder, aromatic spices, and a touch of sugar, this homemade mustard is guaranteed to add a zing to your sandwiches, burgers, and favorite recipes. Follow the simple steps below to create your very own batch of irresistible homemade mustard.

Ingredients:

  • - 3 cups white vinegar
  • - 3 cups apple cider vinegar
  • - 4 cups mustard powder
  • - 4 teaspoons garlic powder
  • - 4 teaspoons salt
  • - 4 teaspoons dried thyme
  • - 2 teaspoons paprika
  • - 4 tablespoons sugar
  • - Makes approximately 7 half-pint jars

Instructions:

1. Combine the ingredients:

   - In a non-reactive pan, whisk together the white vinegar, apple cider vinegar, mustard powder, garlic       powder, salt, dried thyme, paprika, and sugar. Ensure that all the ingredients are well combined.

2. Heat and thicken the mixture:

   - Place the pan on medium heat and bring the mixture to a gentle boil.

   - Allow the mixture to simmer, stirring frequently, until it reaches your desired thickness. The                   mustard should thicken as it cooks.

3. Prepare the jars:

   - While the mustard is simmering, sterilize your half-pint jars, lids, and rings according to proper             canning procedures.

4. Fill the jars:

   - Once the mustard has thickened to your liking, carefully pour it into the sterilized jars, leaving               about  1/4 to 1/2 inch of headspace at the top of each jar.

5. Seal the jars:

   - Wipe the rims of the jars clean to remove any spills or residue.

   - Place the lids on the jars and secure them with the rings, tightening them until they are fingertip             tight.

6. Process in a water bath canner:

   - Place the filled and sealed jars in a water bath canner, ensuring that they are fully submerged in               water.

   - Process the jars in the water bath canner for 15 minutes, maintaining a gentle boil throughout the           processing time.

7. Cool and store:

   - Carefully remove the jars from the water bath canner and place them on a towel-lined surface.

   - Allow the jars to cool completely. As they cool, you may hear a satisfying "pop" sound, indicating a       successful seal.

   - Once cooled, store the jars in a cool, dark place for at least a week before using to allow the flavors       to meld together.
